The Ministry of the Attorney General, Criminal Law Division requires an Aboriginal Liaison Coordinator to be part of a team participating in the development of proposals and effective measures to provide equitable and responsive criminal justice services to all Aboriginal men, women, children and youth in Ontario.

You will: conduct an environmental scan of the ministry`s current initiatives delivering criminal justice services to Aboriginal people and identify gaps that presently exist; research and develop business case proposals for funding programs aimed at improving the delivery of Aboriginal criminal justice services; developing strong working relationships and coordinating meeting with Aboriginal communities and organizations; preparing, through consultation with Division and Ministry staff for the expansion of Aboriginal Adult and Youth diversion and restorative justice projects; assist in the provision of information to internal and appropriate external stakeholders about Aboriginal and non Aboriginal justice concepts; monthly monitoring and forecasting of expenses and resolving discrepancies.

Qualifications:knowledge and understanding of traditional and current Aboriginal governance models, cultural beliefs and practices; knowledge of programs and services presently available; demonstrated knowledge of and experience working on criminal justice system issues with an understanding of alternative judicial measures and restorative justice; strong oral and written communication skills to develop and deliver presentations; well developed project management skills to conceptualize, coordinate and deliver initiatives on time, on track and on budget to prepare monthly forecasting of allocated budget and in-year financial management; demonstrated problem solving skills to identify and evaluate alternate solutions; skilled in analyzing complex issues with demonstrated tact and diplomacy; demonstrated experience with financial planning and forecasting techniques.

Position requires a valid Ontario Driver`s licence.
