The Ministry of Natural Resources, Aboriginal Relations Branch is looking for two seasoned individuals to work in a challenging environment where knowledge of natural resource management as well as aboriginal culture and case law are important. These positions will report to the Manager, Program Section.

You will assist the Aboriginal Relations Branch and MNR`s Southern Region by contributing to the formulation of aboriginal policy program objectives through participation in negotiation involving land claims and other resource management topics, and the provision of advice with respect to operational resource management issues and agreements; recommending solutions to contentious aboriginal natural resource issues and problems.

Qualifications:Demonstrated knowledge and expertise related to natural resource management and/or social sciences. Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal history, culture, case law and policies pertaining to Ontario. Strong analytical, negotiation and problem solving skills to provide clear and objective policy advice. Written and oral communications skills, to converse effectively with a variety of contacts and stimulate discussions on native policy issues. Proven judgement in handling complex and contentious issues and proven ability to work effectively with all levels of staff with the Ministry and in other Ministries. Knowledge of legislation and programs which could impact upon MNR and corporate Ontario aboriginal policy. Organizational skills and proven ability to work in a highly paced and decentralized team work environment. Understanding and experience in policy development and the decision-making processes.

Possession of a valid drivers licence.
