As of January 1, 2002, all generators are required to register their hazardous wastes annually rather than the previous one-time only requirement, as well as pay for the costs of managing hazardous and liquid industrial waste in the province. The Hazardous Waste Information Network (HWIN) is the first of its kind to offer on-line registration, collection of monies, electronic manifesting and reporting on hazardous waste. The Help Desk function offers support to Ministry staff and external clients and users in working with HWIN.

If you are a dynamic individual that enjoys providing front-line customer service in a fast paced office environment, then consider joining the Hazardous Waste Information Unit of the Environmental Monitoring and Reporting Branch.

You will: dispense timely and accurate information about Ministry programs, policies and procedures related to management of hazardous and liquid industrial waste; ensure timely and accurate verbal and written responses to large volume and complex Hazardous Waste Information Network (HWIN) inquiries, identify and escalate issues, assist with resolution and provide input for future program improvements.

Qualifications:advanced level verbal and written French proficiency; demonstrated experience working in a help desk or call centre function, demonstrated oral and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills; knowledge of manifest and generator registration requirements (Regulation 347), hazardous and liquid industrial waste policies and procedures; proven analytical, problem solving and judgement skills to resolve complex and routine client problems; working knowledge of HWIN and proficiency with computer software, e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, databases.
