The Ministry of the Environment is seeking a conscientious individual to work in a diversified industrial, municipal and private pollution abatement program. In this role you will conduct inspections and investigations, prepare and review technical reports, recommend remedial and/or legal action, and ensure implementation of abatement programs. You will also participate in the environmental response program, prepare and issue provincial officer orders, testify in legal proceedings, and liaise with the public, municipal and industrial officials and the media.

Qualifications:demonstrated knowledge of theories, scientific principles and practices of environmental sciences, industrial/municipal processes and pollution controls; knowledge of contaminated site assessment techniques, spill assessment and cleanup, sample collection and field measurement techniques; established communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution and problem solving skills to liaise with internal and external clients and prepare written technical/scientific reports; analytical, evaluative and decision making skills to carry out complex work independently; proven ability to interpret and apply environmental legislation, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines to assess regulatory compliance and develop enforcement options; demonstrated field experience and ability to work independently and under pressure and meet conflicting and changing deadlines; knowledge of issues management techniques; knowledge of project management theories and techniques in order to oversee clean-up projects; knowledge of computer applications and demonstrated proficiency in the use of related software (word processing, spreadsheet, databases) and network applications; valid driver`s license to conduct field work.
