Fort Frances District is one of the most active tourism locations in Ontario, with a huge influx of American visitors through International Falls during the summer months. For this reason, the district has a very large interest in cottaging, fishing and other recreation activities. Another feature of prominence to the district is Quetico Provincial Park - a veritable mecca for backcountry and canoeing enthusiasts of all levels of proficiency.

The Ministry of Natural Resources seeks a highly motivated supervisor to lead the District`s Planning and Information Management Section including preparing resource management plans. In this new role, you will design, implement, monitor, evaluate and adjust consultation programs and processes, information management policies, procedures, programs, science and technology. You will promote ministry programs in the community, maximize public, client and community participation in resource management decision-making and serve as a ministry lead for the areas with First Nations, federal government, provincial agencies, municipalities, clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications:knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of resource and ecosystem planning and management, including interpretation and application of relevant acts and regulations; knowledge of applicable procedures, agreements, and legislation, and demonstrated ability to prepare program and work plans, maintain financial control, and recruit and supervise staff; knowledge of current and evolving science tools and approaches such as landscape management and socio-economic analysis to support resource management decision-making and balancing of ecological, economic and social needs; knowledge of communications, information and data management standards, architectures and infrastructure, as well as knowledge and understanding of the operating principles and management of information resources, including GIS and office automation technology, applications and data; demonstrated negotiation, conflict resolution, mediation, facilitation, consulting and interpersonal skills; proven leadership, planning, analytical, report-writing, problem-solving and decision-making skills; established communication skills; knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and those regulations made under the Act that apply to the workplace and the work being performed, including knowledge of related programs and processes.
