The Ministry of Natural Resources is committed to protecting and managing the provinces natural resources, and to do this, we need someone who possesses the drive and leadership qualities to deliver the ministry`s enforcement program, supervise Conservation Officers and provide compliance leadership to district staff.

As leader of the district enforcement unit, you will: be responsible to plan, coordinate and manage the development and delivery of a district wide integrated risk based enforcement program and provide leadership and advice in the development and delivery of a broad-based compliance program across all program areas. You will also undertake community liaison activities to help ensure public understanding and adherence to resource legislation, and will serve as member of the district wide management team.

Qualifications:management experience with operational enforcement including administrative and supervisory skills, ability to organize workload, set priorities, determine staffing and funding requirements, maintain financial control, manage a budget and assign and schedule work of staff; strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, negotiating, judgment, interpersonal and presentation skills; knowledge and experience in all aspects of natural resource field enforcement, investigative techniques, evidence gathering and court procedures; proven ability in working effectively within a multi-team and program environment; knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of resource management and ecological sustainability; knowledge of legislation and policies related to natural resource enforcement and procedural legislation including knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act; ability to be appointed as a Conservation Officer; ability to complete use of force training and firearms certification; ability to obtain standard First Aid certification; ability to obtain Pleasure Craft Operators Card; proof of having passed recognized hunting licence exam equivalent to Ontario Hunting Licence Exam and having successfully completed the Canadian Firearms Safety Course or successfully challenging the exam; minimum valid drivers licence class of “G” or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.
