What can I expect to do in this role?
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care offers an exciting opportunity for a proven strategic policy leader. Utilizing your proven knowledge and expertise in health care equity issues for disadvantaged/marginalized populations including issues, trends, and models, you will lead the development of evidence-based policies which improve access to the health system.
You will also: provide leadership and expertise in the research, analysis and development of health strategies, policies, programs, standards, regulations and/or legislation to improve health status, health equity and productivity at the system level, focusing on access, innovation and population health within and across the health system; plan, lead and facilitate evidence based policy research, analysis and synthesis to formulate recommendations and policy options; and provide project leadership on concurrent policy development projects.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
good understanding of the Health Care System and sensitivities, structures and complex relationships of health system stakeholder groups and affected populations including systems thinking skills. Demonstrated knowledge of the Policy/legislative process and an understanding of policy and research tools and common business strategy planning methodologies, performance management methodologies and metrics and program design and evaluation techniques. Excellent relationship management and stakeholder partnership management skills to ensure effective relationships are developed and maintained and to act as a trusted advisor. Proven project management skills to provide project planning and leadership on concurrent policy development projects and to manage deadlines and competing priorities. Excellent mediation, negotiation and facilitation skills to negotiate and mediate resolution related to policy development issues. Superior oral and written communication skills to prepare and present complex research analyses, detailed policy frameworks, policy reports, speeches and briefing papers and to promote policy initiatives through presentations and speeches to members of the health system/sector, the community and ministry management and staff. Excellent computer skills to access the internet as a research tool and to prepare own materials using various software programs.
