Ontario's provincial parks provide visitors with unforgettable destinations for nature-based outdoor recreation, as well as other natural and cultural heritage appreciations.

MacGregor Point Provincial Park is a natural wonder located along the Lake Huron shoreline just south of Port Elgin. The park consists of wetlands, former beach ridges, sand dunes and forest communities. It is a major stopover for over 105 migratory birds, nesting warblers and songbirds. The park is provides visitors will year round recreational activities including camping, hiking, cycling, canoeing and cross-country skiing.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this unique and challenging role, you will:
• plan, control and direct the management of MacGregor Point, Sauble Falls, Inverhuron and 11 other non-operational provincial parks
• provide ecosystem protection and management for the region
• plan, prepare and administer the park budget
• plan, coordinate, direct and evaluate park operations and park infrastructure
• provide leadership on human resources activities (eg. selection, training and evaluation of staff, assigning work schedules, managing performance, etc.)
• provide leadership in the deliver of quality customer service to park guests
• develop marketing and promotional partnerships with local interest groups and stakeholders
• manage local issues regarding land use planning, access, tourism and public safety
• plan, coordinate and evaluate the park's enforcement operations

How do I qualify?

Knowledge of park management, operations and maintenance:
• you have knowledge of resource management principles related to park management, operations and planning
• you have knowledge of marketing principles and strategies in order to promote park usage and merchandise
• you have knowledge of general building and utility maintenance and related skilled trades and equipment to supervise on-site construction projects

Other important skills:
• the ability to interpret and apply related policies, procedures, acts, regulations and legislation in the areas of environmental protection, staff supervision, financial administration, park enforcement and health and safety
• you have leadership skills to supervise and develop staff and plan and deliver a regional ecosystem management program
• you have oral/written communication, interpersonal, negotiation and facilitation skills to liaise with various stakeholders, agencies and interest group as well as the public, media and other park staff
• proficient with a variety of computer software applications (eg. word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, internet, etc.)

Mandatory Requirements:
• you have the ability to be designated as a Park Warden and meet ministry certification criteria and standards in Use of Force
• hold a valid Ontario “G” drivers licence or equivalent as recognized by the province of Ontario
• you are able to work shifts, weekends and holidays
