Do you have a genuine interest in building partnerships and collaborating with Aboriginal communities across the north? If so, then consider this opportunity to lead, coordinate and facilitate forestry strategic planning and policy development related to Aboriginal initiatives and programs.
What can I expect to do in this role?
As part of a dynamic policy team, you will:
• identify and address policy objectives in support of economic, community and forest resource development
• lead and undertake complex research and analysis to develop long range corporate strategies and priorities
• conduct policy planning and development
• coordinate corporate policy initiatives and activities
• consult with ministry, government staff and stakeholders to develop, formulate and communicate Ministry positions, strategies and policies
This position may be located in one of four Northern MNDMF offices - Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Timmins or Sault Ste Marie - negotiable with the successful candidate.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
Specialized knowledge:
• You have expert knowledge of aboriginal culture, governance and community perspectives as well as forestry economic development issues.
• Your knowledge and experience in policy development, coordination and strategic planning is extensive.
• You have excellent knowledge of economic, community and forest development.
• You have developed an awareness of the government's decision-making process.
Communication, facilitation and negotiation skills:
• You have well developed oral and written communication skills.
• You have experience conducting presentations.
• You have strong skills in facilitation and consensus building and are able to direct and manage strategic policy and planning sessions.
• You have developed effective consultation skills with aboriginal communities, senior government staff and various stakeholders.
• You have proven negotiation skills to resolve outstanding policy concerns.
• You have excellent tact, diplomacy and political acuity when dealing with officials at all levels.
Other important skills:
• You have strong project and team leadership skills to provide direction and manage strategic policy development and planning.
• You have excellent analytical and research skills.
• You have the ability to prepare and analyze complex submissions and projects and achieve results.
• You have a working knowledge of computers and a variety of software
