The Ministry of the Attorney General, Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation, Legal Services Branch seeks one counsel.

What can I expect to do in this role?

Duties Will Include: The Ministry of the Attorney General has challenging opportunities for one counsel to work in primarily a corporate-commercial law setting to provide legal advice to the Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation and its respective agencies. This position will have emphasis on corporate commercial transactional work including grants, secured lending, and procurement.

Membership in the Law Society of Upper Canada

Knowledge & Skills
Conversant with the law, government policies and practices relating to government grants, procurement and lending and corporate and commercial law more generally. Experience in drafting and reviewing procurement documents, grant agreements, secured lending agreements and other commercial agreements with varying levels of complexity. Familiarity with mergers and acquisitions, private placements, venture capital transactions, bankruptcy and insolvency and intellectual property would be an asset. Able to recognize and assess legal implications in proposed and existing programs and initiatives and able to provide innovative, strategic and solutions-oriented legal advice to complex time-sensitive, high-profile issues that arise. You must be able to handle a high volume practice with short turn around times. Well-organized, excellent oral and written communication skills and excellent research and opinion writing skills. Skilled in developing documents using MS Office tools including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and experienced in using on-line legal research tools. Strong customer service orientation and demonstrated ability to inspire client confidence.
