If you are a motivated investigative professional with interest in environment protection, then consider this opportunity with the Ministry of the Environment.

What can I expect to do in this role?

Acting as Provincial Officer you will:
• lead and conduct environmental investigations
• lay charges and assist in prosecutions
• obtain, examine and analyze evidence (documentary, expert and samples)
• execute search warrants
• prepare Crown briefs and assist Crown Counsel

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirement:
• a valid driver's licence to carry out investigations in locations not accessible by public transportation

Technical knowledge and experience:
• You have knowledge of investigative techniques and procedures.
• You have knowledge of the rules of evidence and court procedures.
• You have proven investigative experience with criminal, environmental or provincial offences cases.
• You have demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation.

Analytical and problem solving skills:
• You have demonstrated analytical and evaluative skills to review evidence and facts and draw conclusions.
• You have sound decision making skills to assess and interpret findings and make recommendations on investigative results.

Communication and interpersonal skills:
• You have well developed communication skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders (witnesses, complainants and industry representatives).
• You can consolidate, discuss and present evidence with ability to explain technical and scientific evidence and information.
• You have well developed interpersonal skills with proven ability to obtain information.

Organizational skills:
• You have organizational skills to maintain notes and cases for investigations and can accurately log gathered information/evidence into a database.
• You can prioritize work and organize evidence and work under pressure within strict deadlines.
• You can work independently with minimal supervision.
