You will:• conduct health assessments• provide emergency intervention• dispense medication • liaise with other professionals and correctional staffHow do I qualify?Mandatory requirements:• You must have a current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.• You must possess a current CPR and First Aid certification or have the ability to obtain one.• You are willing to work shifts (day and evening) and weekends and be available when called in.• You must possess advanced level oral French language skills (to be considered for the bilingual vacancy).Nursing skills:• You are knowledgeable in nursing theories and practices. • You are able to interpret and apply relevant legislation.• You have effective assessment, reasoning, judgment and analytical skills.• You can identify and evaluate health care issues and determine appropriate treatment.Communication skills:• You use your communication and counselling skills to deal effectively with staff and clients.• You are able to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and work with a diverse client group.• You can use a computer to prepare reports and input and retrieve offender information.Other important skills:• You have developed effective assessment, reasoning, judgment and analytical skills.• You have basic computer skills and working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and email.
