If so, then consider one of these two challenging positions, providing maintenance services in the Central East Correctional Centre.What can I expect to do in this role?Your role will include:- Providing general/preventative maintenance/servicing/repairs to the institution including upkeep of buildings, grounds, vehicles and equipment.- Performing general plumbing, electrical, carpentry and welding work.- Assisting other skilled tradespeople and supervising offender-helpers for the majority of working time.How do I qualify?Mandatory:- Qualified in one or more of the skilled trades by proven skills or demonstrated experience, or as licensed by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.Technical knowledge and maintenance expertise:- Proven working knowledge of skilled trades (i.e. carpentry, plumbing, brick-laying, welding, etc) and semi-skilled trades in order to perform a variety of skilled maintenance, construction and preventative maintenance duties.- Ability to complete work from blueprints, schematics, specifications, diagrams and drawings.- Knowledge of operation/maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning/fire systems, and associated instrumentation/control systems.- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation (Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System), municipal by-laws and building codes.- Ability to estimate labour and materials costs. - Knowledge of environmental waste management regulations for both garbage and hazardous waste.Other Essential Skills:- Communication, analytical and organizational skills to discuss work projects with other tradespeople, liaise with correctional staff and to train and instruct inmate helpers.- Knowledge of computers and computer systems related to monitoring automated systems for mechanical and electrical equipment, electronic locking systems, building environmental controls and fence security monitors (CCTV).
