Describe your skills, knowledge and relevant paid work or volunteer experience in the related questions on the application form.To assist you with the application process please visit the Summer Employment Opportunities website and view the following resources: - Eligibility Requirements - Student Application Guide -item 1 in Key Resources - Explanation of Rating Scale for Application Questions -item 2 in Key ResourcesDetailed Position Breakdown:Ministry of Natural Resources3 positions at 2045 - 20th Avenue East, Owen Sound1 position at 4890 Victoria Avenue North, VinelandWhat can I expect to do in this role?Work Description:You may be required to work on some or all of the following tasks:• Aid staff with information management of Crown land through the distribution of land use permits, work permits, leases, etc. and by conducting site visits• Supporting the Aggregates program through the inspection of aggregate operations and assisting with compliance monitoring • Provide assistance to the Fish and Wildlife program by conducting research including fieldwork to assemble and draft information, including writing reports on fish and wildlife resources• Provide assistance to the Forestry program by conducting field work involved with Silvicultural Effectiveness Monitoring and assisting with forest compliance inspections• Provide administrative support including organization of files and publications• Provide support to local office programs and committees including the Joint Health and Safety Committee, Wellness Committee• Assist with outreach activities such as speaking with the public/doing presentations, providing information to the public to educate/generate awareness• Operation of boats, motors, ATVs and other specialized equipment/tools may be required. • Position works outdoors and in diverse weather conditionsHow do I qualify?MandatorySome positions require students to be 15-24 years of age (or 15-29 years of age if you are a person with a disability) due to program funding.Some positions may require the successful candidate(s) to undergo a personal security screening check as a condition of employment.Qualification Requirements:Communications and Interpersonal Skills• You apply your written communication skills to prepare a variety of documents (e.g. reports, document findings, record data, letters, fact sheets etc.)• You apply your interpersonal skills to work in a team environment and have a strong work ethic to work independently• Some positions may require skills in oral FrenchTechnical Skills and Knowledge• You apply your experience using Microsoft Office product suite, such as word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), database management (Access), presentations (PowerPoint); email and internet to conduct research and prepare a variety of documentsAnalytical and Organizational Skills • You apply your planning and organizational skills to collect, organize, review and verify information/data through review of files, reports, and other means• You work independently or as part of a team; you plan, organize and prioritize your work to meet competing deadlinesOther Requirements• Ability to work in an outdoor environment with some physical activity involved, including lifting and carrying weighted items in accordance with the Employment Standards Act and Workplace Health and Safety regulations• Operation of boats, motors, ATVs and other specialized equipment/tools may be required. • Travel with staff on multi-day outdoor field trips• Some positions may require you to have a valid Ontario G2 (or higher) driver's Licence• Some positions may require you to have or acquire a Pleasure Craft Operators Card and certification in Standard First Aid and CPR
