What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will use your skills to operate and maintain water treatment projects within the Northeastern Hub.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory
Trades license as a Millwright and/or applicable skilled trade, acquired through a valid apprenticeship program. Wastewater & water treatment, water distribution and wastewater collection certification is a requirement of the position.

The specific license and level of the wastewater treatment certification would be specific to the classification of the facilities that the position is operating with a willingness to obtain certification at the highest level of the facilities (ability to obtain Class 4 Water Treatment, Class 4 Water Distribution; at least a minimum OIT as specified in O.Reg. 128/04 of the Safe Drinking Water Act and O.Reg. 129/04 of the Ontario Water Resources Act.

Must hold a valid Class G Driver's license.

Must be available to be on-call after regular working hours to respond to alarm conditions.

Knowledge:
Demonstrated experience/knowledge of the maintenance and repair of a variety of equipment and structures.
Basic knowledge of electrical repair, welding, plumbing, gasfitting (chlorine gas) and pipe fitting.
Good knowledge of water & wastewater treatment processes to operate the facilities.
Good knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety and other relevant regulatory and legislative acts, codes, policies, guidelines and procedures related to wastewater operations and maintenance; health and safety procedures/WHMIS.
Knowledge of basic mathematics and chemistry to make calculations for chemical and operating processes.
Knowledge of maintenance manuals, blueprints and other technical specifications; use and storage of industrial chemicals.
Familiarity with computers including monitoring and operating systems.
Familiarity with predictive maintenance techniques such as vibration analysis.

Skills and abilities include:
Analytical, problem solving, planning skills to perform major equipment overhauls, routine and preventive maintenance; carry out repairs and perform a variety maintenance tasks; resolve maintenance and operational issues; take samples of the wastewater chemicals to make process control adjustments.
Organizational skills to lead extensive maintenance and repair projects.
Good oral and written communication skills to liaise with staff, clients, suppliers, keep logs and completed reports. Proven oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment and take initiative.
Ability to perform manual labour.
