The Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal is a highly specialized adjudicative Tribunal that hears appeals of final decisions of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. The Tribunal's Adjudication Support group provides administrative support to assigned Vice-Chairs, Member Representatives of Employers and Member Representatives of Workers. The unit currently seeks a highly motivated individual for the role of Adjudication Assistant. Working in a highly professional, quiet and focused environment, the Adjudication Assistant is primarily responsible for the proofreading, editing and formatting of decisions while providing quality administrative service to Vice-Chairs and Members. Working as a member of a small team, work is primarily performed individually following structured processes. If you enjoy working in this environment, this could be the role for you.What can I expect to do in this role?Working in a quiet, focused environment you will: • provide administrative support to Vice-Chairs and Member Representatives • proofread and edit decisions and memoranda of varying complexity for accuracy and grammar• prepare Tribunal decisions and maintain decision data in the Tribunal's customized case management database• type decisions, case material and correspondence from dicta and other materials, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and suitable format• release decisions in accordance to Tribunal standards and processes• follow up on post hearing activity• schedule panel caucuses• ensure distribution of file materials and Addenda in advance of scheduled hearingsHow do I qualify?Administrative Skills:• you have demonstrated proofreading/editing skills to proofread decisions and ensure spelling and grammar are accurate and meet Tribunal decision standards• you have advanced computer and word processing skills, preferably in a Windows/Word environment in order to format complex documents within existing software and templates• you have proven administrative support experience• you have the ability to work well under pressure in order to meet tight time constraints while producing accurate product• you have advanced dicta skills and typing skills (50 wpm) in order to type decisions of varying length and complexityCommunication and Customer Service Skills:• you have demonstrated excellent grammar/spelling and editing ability in order to proofread decisions• you have advanced oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills to interact with assigned Vice Chairs and Members as required• you have excellent organizational skills in order to meet tight deadlines and handle a diverse workloadKnowledge:• you have demonstrated knowledge of medical/legal terminology in order to transcribe documents ensuring spelling and accuracy
