Long Point Provincial Park is a busy, 150ha, recreation class park located in a World Biosphere Reserve on the Northern shores of Lake Erie. Annually, over 130,000 visitors come to Long Point to enjoy swimming in the warm waters, sun tanning on the gorgeous beaches, as well as camping and picnicking in the 4th oldest provincial park in the province. As one of the largest migration and staging areas in North America, birding and waterfowling abound and excellent fishing and boating opportunities exist on the Inner Bay.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As Park Warden you will:
• lead the park enforcement program
• patrol the park campground and day use areas
• assist with facility sanitation and park maintenance to ensure the park remains clean and safe for park visitors
• assist with visitor registration and provide information to park visitor

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirements:

• you must be able to work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as per schedule
• you must be able to be designated as a Park Warden and meet ministry certification criteria and standards in the use of force
• you must be able to obtain an Emergency First Aid certification
• you must possess a valid class G driver's license

Technical knowledge:

• knowledge of resource management principles and techniques as they apply to parks
• knowledge of parks programs, services and operating regulations
• knowledge of and skills in the operation and maintenance of a variety of office and light powered equipment such as brushsaws, chainsaws, lawn mowers and small hand tools
• knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act that apply to the workplace and the work being performed
• knowledge of and experience in building and utility maintenance

Interpersonal and leadership skills:

• strong group leadership and interpersonal skills to provide direction to colleagues and stakeholders and enforce park rules and regulations
• demonstrated oral and written communication skills to provide park information to stakeholders and written skills to produce reports and correspondence
• proven mathematical and organizational skills to analyze data and deal with competing demands
• ability to work independently and to follow and carry out instructions
