Play an essential role at the Ministry of Transportation, Corridor Management Office as a Permits Officer to support and reinforce the review, assessment and investigation of permit and land development applications in order to ensure that corridor control policies and procedures are administered equitably.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will:
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corridor control policies and procedures
• Inspect the highway system within the region on a regular basis to ensure compliance
• Liaise with a variety of contacts such as applicants, solicitors, real estate agents, Federal and Provincial ministries, local authorities, utilities and others
• Be responsible for a variety of activities including implementing methods and procedures to improve the production and operations of the office
• Attend Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) hearings as a ministry representative when required

How do I qualify?

Mandatory
• You have a valid Ontario class 'G' driver's license

Technical Knowledge:
• You have knowledge of highway construction and design and land use planning processes and systems
• You are able to interpret and apply surveying, design standards, specifications, and procedures
• You have knowledge of policies, procedures and legislation governing issuance of permits

Communication and Consultation Skills:
• You can liaise with internal and external clients to provide information and respond to inquiries
• You can coordinate and attend meetings to represent the division
• You are able to communicate in a clear and concise manner and prepare written correspondence

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:
• You can mediate and resolve complex problems
• You can review and assess proposals and applications and provide recommendations

Computer Skills:
• You have experience with quality control testing procedures
• You are proficient with word and data processing software applications
