The Ministry of the Attorney General (MAG), Legal Services Division seeks an accomplished legal manager to assist the Director in the management and provision of legal services to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Ministry of Rural Affairs.

What can I expect to do in this role?

Duties Will Include: You will: support and assist the Director in the management of the Legal Services Branch and the delivery of quality legal services including the provision of legal advice to senior management in the areas of agricultural law, public law, corporate and commercial law, administrative law, planning law, food safety law; provide advice in respect of legislative development as well as policy and operational initiatives; assist with strategic/operational planning, performance planning and performance management, administrative and human resource matters; mentor counsel and provide guidance to counsel on high profile or complex issues, as required; act as Director in the Director's absence.

Mandatory
Membership in the Law Society of Upper Canada

Knowledge & Skills
Management/leadership experience; knowledge of agricultural law, public law, contract and commercial law, planning law, drainage law and food safety law; experience with the legislative process and policy development; experience in strategic planning; superior analytical and communication skills; demonstrated leadership qualities; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; sound judgment; ability to produce high quality work under demanding time limits.
