If you are a highly-motivated professional engineer with a desire to make your contribution to Ontario's highways, consider this opportunity with the Ministry of Transportation's geotechnical unit.What can I expect to do in this role?In this rewarding role, you will:• Provide supervisory, technical, consulting and administrative services associated with highway pavements, low complexity foundations and rockfall hazard management• Support the programming, planning, design, construction and maintenance of highway facilities.How do I qualify?Mandatory• Licensed by the Professional Engineers of Ontario• Valid Class “G” drivers licenceTechnical Knowledge:• You have knowledge of theory, principles and practices of civil engineering• You have knowledge of geotechnical engineering related to pavement design and management • You have working knowledge of highway construction and maintenance, low complexity foundation design and rockfall hazardsEssential Skills:• You have supervisory skills to plan, schedule, direct and monitor the activities of technical staff• You have project management and contract administration skills to effectively manage and/or administer both in-house projects and those completed by external service providers• You have communication, negotiation, interpersonal and teamwork skills• You demonstrate analytical and decision making skills• You are proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, database, pavement management, design and scheduling software
