Then consider this exciting opportunity with the Investigations Unit at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will:
• Investigate alleged misconducts on the part of individuals and/or companies licensed or requiring licensing under legislation administered by FSCO
• Take statements from witness and/or alleged offenders to obtain the relevant evidence
• Execute search warrants, lay chargers and prepare Crown briefs and assist Crown counsel
• Use your analytical, investigative and interview skills as well as your good judgement, integrity and tact to carry out investigations

How do I qualify?

Mandatory
• You must possess a valid Driver's license as recognized by the province of Ontario.

Technical Knowledge and Experience:
• Superior knowledge in investigative methods and techniques to conduct investigations and identify breaches or criminal offences such as fraud.
• Demonstrated experience in fraud-related investigations involving financial institutions and the ability to conduct investigations and to identify and confirm breaches of various acts and regulations administered by FSCO
• Established experience in preparing and executing search warrants
• Experience in testifying before a court or judicial body
• Knowledge of court procedures, rules of evidence, related legislative and regulatory requirements such as the Provincial Offences Act, the Ontario and Canada Evidence Ant, the Criminal Code of Canada.
• Established experience in the preparation and execution of search warrants

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
• Superior oral and written communication skills to to represent FSCO and to identify issues in an accurate and timely fashion.
• Written communication skills to prepare investigative review papers and reports, issue notes, briefing documents, letters of recommendations and correspondence
• Strong oral communication skills to meet with senior officials, management and/or representatives of financial institutions to outline investigative process and to gather information
• Ability to work independently with little supervision, under pressure and to meet strict deadlines

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:
• Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislations, regulations, policies and procedures that impact investigations such as the Insurance Act
• Demonstrated good judgement and strong analytical skills to conduct investigations and prepare reports
• Sound knowledge of judicial processes to investigate issues and provide recommendations
• Thorough problem solving skills to work in partnership with law enforcement agencies to investigative cases.
• Familiar with relevant case law to conduct investigations, prepare investigative reports, prepare cases and Crown evidentiary briefs, and testify in court and in hearings

Note: The successful candidate will be given a conditional offer pending a suitable Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) security check.
