What can I expect to do in this role?Duties will include: working as a team member of the Planning Law Section in a fast-paced environment as lead counsel for the Crown before the Ontario Municipal Board in a wide variety of complex hearings; managing various legal proceedings including applications for judicial review; providing risk-based legal advice on planning law; supporting policy and program development; briefing senior ministry staff, drafting legislation, regulations, opinions, Minister's Orders and agreements; and leading training & education initiatives.How do I qualify?MandatoryLaw Society of Upper Canada MembershipKnowledge and SkillsAptitude/desire to represent the Crown; extensive experience appearing before the Ontario Municipal Board in multi-party hearings involving complex land use planning, environmental and other scientific evidence; in-depth knowledge of the Planning Act and all related planning legislation; proven advocacy skills; legal drafting experience; demonstrated ability to handle a high-volume practice and work productively and independently in a high pressure team environment; flexibility; excellent judgment and organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills; strong client service orientation; computer literacy; willingness and ability to travel.
