Are you a strong leader with experience developing transportation policy implementation?If so, bring your unique set of skills to support this exciting project within the Pan/Parapan AM Games Branch.What can I expect to do in this role?In this role, you will:• lead major Pan Am and Parapan AM transportation policy projects that support policy and program issues related to transit, passenger, goods movement and sustainable transportation for the Games• lead and coordinate projects involving multi-faceted research and development of policy options and proposals• provide strategic advice and consultative services regarding transportation implementation policy issues to senior management and senior officials as well as client ministries• promote the development of new relationships and partnerships and acts as key liaison• estimate project resources and prepare cost analysisHow do I qualify?Transportation Knowledge• you know transportation issues and their relationship to the environment and Ontario's economy to plan and lead policy and planning projects • you know relevant federal, provincial and municipal government structure• you know economic theory and principles to promote Government and Ministry agenda, objectives and policies related to transportation and environmental sustainability• you can identify links between economic, environmental and transportation policy issues to analyze and evaluate policy issues and their impact on the MinistryLeadership and Interpersonal Skills• you can provide direction and guidance to project staff and external service providers• you can use your skills to establish effective working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders and contacts • you can provide advice to senior management, senior officials and internal and external partners on policy development and related issues• you can negotiate to build consensus related to Ministry position on policyResearch and Analysis• you can use knowledge of research and analytical theory to lead the development of recommendations related to effective transportation policies• you can assess the impact of proposed policy options and perform business case analysis• you can conceptualize, plan and lead major policy and planning projects in order to develop and refine policies• you can analyze, develop strategies and options and make recommendations to senior officials on sensitive policy and program issuesCommunication and Computer Skills• you can present material in briefings and make presentations• you can develop presentations, briefings, reports and correspondence on behalf of Ministry senior officials and contribute to Cabinet submissions• you can use software applications and computer modelling to undertake research and analysis
