Do you have experience in policy development on high profile federal and provincial income security programs? Consider this opportunity to showcase your leadership for policy research, analysis and development.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a senior economist, you will have the opportunity to analyse program changes and to recommend policy initiatives on income security programs including the Canada Pension Plan, social assistance reform and the Ontario Child Benefit. You will:

• Analyze social, economic and fiscal impacts of benefits and services for children, adults and seniors.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends and research on income security policy, social assistance reforms and poverty reduction strategies.
• Participate in the annual budget process on high profile initiatives.
• Prepare presentations, briefing notes, and public communications on complex social and economic policy issues
• provide expert and timely advice on federal and provincial income security issues to senior management

How do I qualify?

Specialized Knowledge:

• You have expert knowledge of federal and provincial income security programs, policies and delivery mechanisms.
• You have knowledge of social policy, economics, public policy and social program administration

Policy Development Knowledge:

• You have demonstrated experience in evidence-based policy development, integrating economic, social and financial analysis and in governments' decision making processes.
• You can link program specific issues to the government's broader policy agenda.

Research, Analytical and Quantitative Skills:

• You can analyse, model and evaluate the fiscal, economic, behavioural and distributive impacts of current and new initiatives.
• You use qualitative and quantitative methodologies for environmental scanning, modelling and forecasting and cross program impact analyses
• You can use computer applications to manage data and prepare reports

Communication and Partnership Building Skills:

• You can prepare and present complex research and policy analysis and recommendation in through high-quality briefing materials, presentations and public documents.
• You are able to communicate effectively with a range of audiences including stakeholders, colleagues, team members and senior management
• You build partnerships and networks with counterparts in other branches, ministries, jurisdictions and external interest groups and work effectively in a team oriented environment
