Looking for a way to make a difference? Then consider joining the Ministry of the Environment, Air Policy Instruments and Program Design Branch, where you will be responsible for providing strategic direction to the branch, ministry, government and external clients for the use, management and protection of Ontario's air quality.

What can I expect to do in this role?

• Lead complex air policy, program, strategic planning and policy development projects.
• Provide senior level expertise to senior management and stakeholders.
• Formulate strategies and approaches to set and achieve air management and protection goals and objectives.
• Evaluate short-term and long-term impacts of initiatives.
• Coordinate responses and approaches to highly-sensitive and contentious issues.
• Develop strategies and build consensus to expedite senior-level decision-making processes.

How do I qualify?

Knowledge of Policy Development
• You have advanced knowledge of policy and program development and program analysis.
• You have knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, policies and programs.
• You have knowledge of air quality and climate change issues.

Research, Analytical and Problem Solving Skills
• You have research and analytical skills to assess the effectiveness of policies and programs and provide recommendations on policy and program changes.
• You have problem solving skills to manage contentious issues.

Communication, Consultation, and Negotiation Skills
• You have strong communication and consultation skills to provide advice, policy options, and strategies to senior management.
• You have negotiation and consensus building skills to work cooperatively with ministries, other levels or government and industry stakeholders.
• You have presentation skills to provide explanations on risk and prevention issues and strategies.

Computer Proficiency
• You are proficient with internet research tools, word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and presentation software to present research and prepare briefing materials and policy submissions.
