What can I expect to do in this role?

Work Description:

You may be required to work on some or all of the following tasks:
• Provide customer service assistance by responding to public and/or internal inquiries
• Assist with a variety of administrative duties
• Plan, organize, coordinate and manage daily assigned work
• Work may require experience specified/listed in the questions below or other similar tasks as assigned

These positions will support different teams on a range of program-related activities including:

Youth Programs
• Participate in the planning, delivery and evaluation of child and youth summer programs
• Collect and record feedback from program participants

Livestock Park Operations
• Assist with general duties and responsibilities of maintaining the Park's operations
• Assist with programs and activities that relate to the Park's programs
• Assist with the well-being of all livestock
• Participate in the development and maintenance of demonstration crops and horticulture program
• Assist with / participate in educational programming
• Assist with daily upkeep of the Park's site/grounds and buildings

How do I qualify?

Mandatory
All positions require students to be 15 years of age on the first day of employment with no age limit.

Some positions require students to be 15-24 years of age (or 15-29 years of age if you are a person with a disability) on the first day of employment due to program funding.

Some positions on this job ad will require the successful candidate to undergo a general-level screening check, which includes a criminal record check, at their own expense.

Qualification Requirements:
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• You apply your written communication skills to prepare a variety of documents (e.g. reports, document findings, record data)
• You apply your verbal communications skills to communicate and share your knowledge with staff and program participants and support the delivery of education and outreach initiatives
• You apply your verbal, written, listening communication skills and customer service skills to respond to phone, email, and in-person inquiries and provide information to internal clients and/or public
• You apply your interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team

Technical Skills and Knowledge
• You apply your knowledge and experience in creative arts and youth development to assist with the planning and delivery of educational summer programs.
• You apply your knowledge and experience in agriculture, crops and/or livestock to increase awareness of Ontario's agriculture and food system – past and present or to assist with livestock feeding routines and handling.
• You apply basic safe operating practices to work with machinery and equipment
• You maintain clean housing for livestock
• You maintain park grounds and lawn care by mowing, trimming, etc
• You apply your experience using Microsoft Office product suite, such as word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), databases (Access); email and Internet to conduct research and prepare a variety of documents

Analytical and Organizational Skills
• You apply your planning and organizational skills to collect, organize, review and verify information/data through review of files, reports, and other means
• You have the ability to understand archival practices
• You work independently or as part of a team; you plan, organize and prioritize your time to meet competing deadlines

Other Requirements
• You are willing to participate in a two-day orientation and training session including standard St. John First Aid and basic CPR
