Application submissions for Summer Employment Opportunities with the Ontario Public Service

If so, this position with its variety of duties will interest you.What can I expect to do in this role?You will:• provide general groundskeeper and grounds maintenance services • perform minor repair and maintenance to buildings/utilities• provide garbage collection, general facility maintenance/sanitation • operate and repair a variety of heavy and light powered equipment such as tractor with attachments, riding lawn mowers, chain saws, boats and hand tools • carry out facility inspection for security/damage• promote compliance with park rules and regulations• advise, report and record problems, violations and complaints• assist with training and leadership of regular students and Summer Experience Program (SEO) students.How do I qualify?Mandatory requriements:• You must possess a valid Class “G” driver's license or equivalent as recognized by the province of Ontario.• You have the ability to obtain valid CPR and Emergency First Aid Certificate.• You have the ability to obtain valid Limited Sub Water System Certificate.• You have the ability to obtain a valid Pleasure Craft Operator's card.• You have the ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends and statutory holidays as per schedule.Knowledge:• You possess knowledge of operating standards for the maintenance and sanitation of general building facilities and utility maintenance.• You are knowledgeable of the operation and maintenance of powered equipment such as lawnmowers, chainsaws, boats and small hand tools. • You have knowledge of and the ability to apply and interpret relevant regulations, acts, policies and procedures (i.e Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, etc.).Leadership skills:• You possess group leadership skills to lead and provide guidance and advice to student staff and volunteers.• You are able to work with minimal supervision, follow and carry out instructions.Communication skills:• You possess excellent communication skills to respond to general information requests from internal and external clients.• You have interpersonal skills to deal with staff and to provide clear information.
