What can I expect to do in this role?

As a team player who excels at change, challenge and problem-solving, you will:
• manage day-to-day delivery of court services for a range of practice areas (criminal, civil and family) and/or operational functions (court office, court case scheduling and in-court staffing)
• ensure the timely and efficient administration and delivery of court operations
• provide information to clients and court stakeholders on technical, statutory, regulatory issues, rules and procedures in operational areas, such as scheduling of trials, administration and maintenance of courtrooms
• support the modernization of court services by identifying opportunities for and recommending improved business processes
• provide strategic planning advice to senior management on data findings, conclusions and recommendations for program and service delivery adjustments to maximize operational efficiency
• oversee and participate in the recruitment and selection of employees
• prepare and conduct performance management review and annual learning and development plans
• develop effective working relationships and consults with the manager, colleagues, staff and justice participants

Leadership Skills:
• You can manage the timely and efficient administration and delivery of day-to-day court operations
• You have demonstrated knowledge of administrative and financial/budgetary cash management policies and procedures
• You can organize and lead various specialized projects for the courthouse or region

• you have strong leadership and change management skills to devise improved business processes, maximize operational cost-effectiveness and successfully implement ongoing changes
• you have strong leadership and project management abilities to organize and/or lead various specialized projects
• with your leadership skills you can lead and provide direction to staff, as well create and maintain a professional and respectful workplace

Technical Knowledge
You have:
• thorough knowledge of administrative and financial/budgetary cash management policies, procedures and processes in order to support and ensure an efficient operation
• the ability to interpret and apply related legislation, regulations, rules, operational policies and procedures (example: Courts of Justice Act, Rules of Civil Procedure, Small Claims Court Rules, Family Law Rules, Criminal Code of Canada, Court Support Staff Procedures Manual) in order to provide operational direction to staff and provide input to the development of court operational policies, procedures and best practices
• knowledge of human resources and ability to interpret and apply relevant employment legislation (example: Employment Standards Act, Travel, Meal & Hospitality Directive, collective agreements)

Managerial, Organizational and Administrative Skills
You have:
• exceptional managerial, organizational and administrative skills to manage staff and co-ordinate operational activities, such as scheduling of staff and court caseloads
• the ability to collect and analyze management information (example: court activity statistics) and provide strategic planning advice to senior management on data findings, conclusions and recommendations for program and service delivery adjustments to maximize operational efficiency

Communication and Other Essential Skills
You have:
• demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills to prepare briefing notes and business cases, provide clear direction to staff, and communicate technical information to justice participants and clients
• the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with judiciary, staff and other justice participants, such as members of the legal and law enforcement profession, and other client groups and colleagues
