Bring your expertise and enthusiasm for privacy and transparency to the Policy Team at the Information and Privacy Commissioner/Ontario (IPC), an independent officer of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario which oversees the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Personal Health Information Protection Act.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will independently and as part of a team: support the leading-edge policy analysis and research work of the IPC; review and evaluate programs, initiatives, and draft legislation relating to the Ontario government, municipal governments and other organizations; provide advice and support to tribunal services staff on access and privacy issues; participate in strategic planning and education programs; prepare briefings for senior and other staff on policy, legal/technical/economic and social aspects of access and privacy issues.

How do I qualify?

Knowledge and Skills

You will qualify for this position by demonstrating: an extensive knowledge of access, privacy and open and transparent government issues; solid knowledge of Ontario and municipal government organizations, policies and procedures; an understanding of access and privacy issues relating to information management systems used in government and other organizations; well-developed analytical/problem solving skills; an ability to plan and conduct extensive research and prepare written evaluations and recommendations; extensive experience in policy development/analysis in the public sector; knowledge of strategic planning; the ability to use good judgement in all aspects of your daily work; and well-developed oral and written communication skills.
