What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• Design, develop and maintain standard cost accounting, management reporting and capital asset systems to accurately capture and report on SLPC's financial performance
• Prepare, interpret and present budget reports (operating and capital), financial statements, performance scorecards (KPI's) and standard cost / operating / capital asset reports.
• Analyze data/reports to identify deviations to plans/programs and recommend corrective actions to mitigate potential risks.
• Participate in the development of business cases relative to securing appropriate funding for infrastructure expansion and rehabilitation, risk mitigation and incremental revenue generation.

How do I qualify?

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

• Demonstrated experience with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), modern controllership practices and financial decision making processes with experience in and an understanding of audit process, budgeting and forecasting.
• Demonstrated ability working with activity-based costing, cost accounting, management reporting, performance analysis, statistical / financial analysis and quantitative techniques.
• Advanced knowledge and demonstrated skill to work with financial ERP (like Sage-300 ERP), MS-Excel (advance level), various database accounting and productivity software, including MS suite of products to access/analyze data, prepare reports, spreadsheets, financial statements etc.

PROBLEM SOLVING AND ANALYTICAL SKILLS:

• Strong financial management and analytical skills to identify variances and other discrepancies while adhering to rigorous schedules.
• Ability to prepare and maintain detailed spreadsheets for various budget accounting, statistical, analytical and expense purposes.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement in problem solving and decision making with minimal supervision.

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

• Well developed interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships with business unit managers and to convince internal stakeholders of the benefits to be gained by improving financial controls/procedures.
