If so, please consider this unique and important opportunity as the next Assistant Deputy Minister of the Anti-Racism Directorate with the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

This is a critical time of growth and transformation for the Anti-Racism Directorate. In this executive role you will lead a team of highly-engaged professionals to deliver key anti-racism initiatives and promote the mandate of the ARD. The ADM will enable systemic change by collaborating across government to implement strategy, leverage opportunities and effectively work together with anti-racism community partners and other stakeholders.

You are a visionary leader who has demonstrated experience in driving enterprise-wide transformation in complex environments. You are conversant with systemic barriers in a social justice context and highly motivated to engage in a racial equity narrative. You demonstrate the leadership values of authenticity, inclusion, collaboration, courage, and integrity.

Our work is focused on what lies beneath the trends and data associated with the systemic racism that continues to create barriers for Indigenous and racialized communities in Ontario. We are working to identify, address and remove these barriers. For this reason, the OPS is particularly encouraging and welcoming applications from Indigenous and racialized communities to help us drive this important work forward.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this unique transformational role, reporting to the Deputy Solicitor General, Correctional Services you will provide leadership to address systemic racism in public sector organizations to create a more inclusive province.

The ADM, Anti-Racism Directorate is responsible for:

• Leading the work of the Directorate to provide anti-racism expertise and research that promotes racially equitable and fair practices.
• Building strong relationships and engaging across government and with anti-racism community partners to promote the mandate of the Directorate.
• Implementing an action plan which include key deliverables such as: a province-wide Indigenous and racialized anti-racism strategy; establishing an anti-racism assessment framework, and a province-wide anti-racism public education and awareness campaign.
• Providing leadership and direction to the senior management of the Anti-Racism Directorate to drive results and achieve success.

• You have deep experience defining, communicating and enabling a vision for change
• You have proven ability to deliver on transformational change in large and complex organizations, including developing strategies to transform organizational culture
• You can create, influence and leverage change while enabling policy outcomes and program delivery

Executive Leadership

• You are an experienced executive with superior strategic management to lead, engage and inspire teams to achieve policy and programming goals
• You have exceptional leaderships skills, based on a foundation of resiliency, collaboration, inclusion and mentoring
• You are an inclusive leader who values and creates a culture of diversity, inclusion and equity in the workplace

Policy and Program Leadership

• You have solid understanding of government decision-making and experience with public sector policy and program development
• You are a seasoned strategic and analytical thinker, and have led the development and implementation of substantive policies, programs and standards
• You have experience influencing the integration of data analysis and research methodologies into policy and program development
• You have an excellent understanding of the issues and challenges related to systemic racism as well as the key community organizations with which to collaborate
• You have demonstrated success developing and implementing province-wide, multi-year strategies

Relationship Management and Political Acuity

• You have proven political acuity and ability to manage complex issues with high public profile and scrutiny
• You have demonstrated experience working in a respectful and collaborative manner with marginalized groups targeted by systemic inequities, such as Indigenous, racialized, Jewish and Muslim communities
• You are a sophisticated communicator and decision maker who can effectively provide strategic advice and informed recommendations on high profile issues
• You initiate and champion working across organizational boundaries, hierarchies and mandates to achieve results with other senior leaders
