Plants, animals, and micro-organisms all play essential roles in the natural processes that keep the Earth's atmosphere, climate, landscape, and water in balance, both now and in the future. If you are passionate about the protection and recovery of species at risk, and the role of protected areas in their conservation, consider this permanent position.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
-provide leadership and professional expertise to MNR staff, other government agencies, conservation groups and stakeholders in the protection and recovery of species at risk and other provincially rare species within provincial parks and conservation reserves.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

This position requires a minimum valid Class G Driver's Licence or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.

Technical/Program Knowledge

-sound knowledge of and experience with the theories, principles and practices of the ecological and biophysical sciences, as they relate to species at risk. Comprehensive knowledge of habitat description and classification, landscape ecology, population dynamics, natural heritage inventory and monitoring techniques, and current biological research trends.

Strong Communication Skills

-to communicate technical information, legislation and policy information to a variety of audiences, prepare briefing notes, minister's letters and government responses to inquiries.

Interpersonal Skills

-including tact, negotiation and conflict resolution skills to manage issues, facilitate meetings, reconcile differing points of view, build consensus, and to facilitate partnership arrangements with a wide range of individuals, groups and associations.

Other Skills

-strategic thinking, program development and implementation skills to develop and implement recovery strategies and actions.

Leadership and Coordination Skills

-to coordinate, lead, support and advise field staff on provincial program delivery.

Computer Proficiency

-with standard office software, including word processing, database management, graphics and presentation software.
