As the province's heritage agency, the Ontario Heritage Trust is dedicated to preserving, protecting and promoting Ontario's rich and diverse heritage.

We are looking for a Coordinator to design and develop public education and interpretive programs, activities and partnerships at the heritage sites in Toronto. This position offers a unique career opportunity to work with multi-disciplinary teams on a number of interesting and diverse projects.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, coordinate and supervise the delivery of creative and innovative public education, special events and interpretive products at multiple heritage sites;
• Build partnership and capitalize on opportunities to market and promote programs with stakeholders;
• Provide advice and recommendation in the development and delivery of business plans, policies and process for the sites;
• Provide support on revenue generation, business planning, fundraising, corporate sponsorship and marketing activities;
• Liaise with contacts to identify capital improvements, and maintenance and repair requirements;
• Provide team leadership, technical direction, advice and guidance to volunteers, suppliers and contract staff.

How do I qualify?

Knowledge and Experience

• You have knowledge of and experience in public interpretation of cultural and natural heritage sites, and innovative and creative public programming and delivery
• You have knowledge of marketing principles and promotion techniques
• You have knowledge of the mandate of the Trust, legislative framework, museum planning best practices and standards
• You can interpret and apply health, safety and fire legislation and regulations, as well as purchasing, procurement and budgeting policies and processes

Partnership Building and Interpersonal Skills

• You have knowledge of partnership building strategies between the government, education institutions and private organizations
• You can conduct public meetings and liaise with the public and special interest groups to market and promote the heritage sites
• You can build partnership with museums and local businesses to link program and activities of mutual benefit

Communication, Presentation and Advisory Skills

• You can prepare and deliver a wide range of materials, represent the Trust at meetings, and address the public at special events
• You can provide input into business plans, and explain polices and processes to volunteers and contract staff

Analytical, Research and Problem Solving Skills

• You can research and develop creative and innovative interpretive products
• You can identify challenges, address issues and concerns, and ensure smooth operation of the sites

Project Management Skills

• You can oversee site activities and programs, and develop and deliver interpretive products, education programs and events
