Do you want to play a leadership role in making Ontario a premier travel destination? Huronia Historical Parks provides stewardship to two historic attractions, vessels and natural land. Consider this dynamic opportunity to preserve, protect and promote Huronia Historical Parks' heritage attractions' cultural, architectural, archaeological collections and their compelling stories.

Ontario's cultural heritage is rich and exceptionally diverse, and we need a strategic leader to coordinate tourism operations with provincial policy, regional tourism and market demands. You will lead two unique provincial tourism attractions and promote the conservation and growth of these legacies now and for future generations.

What can I expect to do in this role?

Reporting to the ADM, Tourism Planning and Operations, the General Manager will be responsible for:

• Directing, coordinating and controlling the delivery of tourism services at two tourist attractions and facilitating the development of Huronia Historical Parks' strategic directions and corporate values;
• Expanding tourism experiences in the region and increasing the profile of the area as a tourism destination;
• Providing strategic leadership and direction for operational liaison and relationship management within the ministry's tourism agencies and attractions portfolio;
• Establishing and maintaining effective relationships and communications to represent the interests, needs and opportunities of heritage attractions; and
• Leading, supporting and promoting a productive team and business environment while fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, accessibility and excellence

Huronia Historical Parks (HHP) consists of two tourist attractions (Sainte-Marie among the Hurons and Discovery Harbour) which are unique, leading, multi-component destination tourism attractions that provides cultural, recreational, entertainment and educational experiences for residents and visitors.

• You are a team player who can work collaboratively with executives and your team to set organizational direction, resolve issues and promote change to effectively achieve business plan targets
• You have experience driving transformational change in your organization and can influence change with internal and external partners, clients and organizations
• You demonstrate a commitment to diversity, accessibility and inclusiveness in your leadership and design of public programs and operations and promote these values within your staff

Relationship Management and Marketing

• You have superior consultation, negotiation, and consensus building skills to develop strategic partnerships and maintain credibility with colleagues, business partners, stakeholders and senior leaders
• You have knowledge of current trends and stakeholder interests in the tourism industry and other related sectors
• You have knowledge of marketing practices, methods and techniques to enhance and attract public events and exhibits and boost visitation/revenues
• You can develop and implement large scale programs, coordinate multiple service provider roles and functions, and manage competing stakeholder needs

Technical Knowledge

• You understand theories, principles, design and practices of heritage conservation and planning; education and tourism experiences
• You have knowledge of real estate and cultural resource management to direct the conservation of properties and collections of provincial and national heritage significance
• You have knowledge of government priorities, processes and legislation pertaining to the oversight and accountability of attractions and/or agencies
