Are you an emergency management professional looking to make a difference? If so, consider applying for this temporary opportunity to serve as an Emergency Management Program Advisor based in the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Emergency Management and Planning Office (EMPO).

What can I expect to do in this role?

As the successful candidate you will:

• work with internal and external stakeholders to conduct research and consultations about the future of the MTO emergency management program;
• support the development of a strategic plan for the ministry's emergency management program;
• support consequence management planning and exercises in advance of the PanAm Games;
• conduct research and analysis related to nuclear/radiological emergency preparedness; and,
• assist in ensuring ministry compliance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

- Ability to travel is required.
- Ability to serve on-call approximately once per month for one week is required.

Project Management and Communication Skills:

- You have excellent project management, written and verbal communication/presentation skills to organize and conduct environmental scans and consultations, develop recommendations/present analysis, communicate outcomes, develop written plans and procedures, conduct briefings and facilitate emergency simulations.
- You have the ability to work independently under a deadline to deliver on commitments within a compressed project timeline.

Technical Knowledge:

- You have knowledge of emergency management legislation, regulations, theories and practices to develop emergency response plans and procedures, develop and facilitate exercises and respond to emergency situations.

Interpersonal Skills:

- You have advanced relationship management skills, customer service orientation and political acuity to build credible and professional partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

- You have advanced research and analytical skills to determine best practices, applicable legislation, options, strategic opportunities and risks.
