Bring your enthusiasm, energy and commitment to work in a high profile policy environment with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Planning, Research and Analysis Branch, where you will provide leadership and expertise in research, analysis, evaluation and development of health strategies, policies, programs, standards, regulations, and/or legislation to improve health status, health equity, and productivity.
What can I expect to do in this role?
As a Senior Research/Planning Advisor, you will have the opportunity to address a range of health system issues affecting Ontarians. You will:
• Provide strategic program evaluation expertise and advice to ministry staff and senior management.
• Lead quantitative and qualitative health research in support of strategic health system innovations.
• Access, utilize and interpret health data and information from a variety of sources.
• Prepare policy papers and responses to issues and initiatives across various areas within the ministry.
• Lead and conduct working groups and projects.
How do I qualify?
Policy Research and Program Evaluation Knowledge:
• You have knowledge of policy and research tools, performance management methodologies and metrics, program design and evaluation techniques.
• You have knowledge of the legislative process in policy development.
• You can conduct health policy research and analysis, and apply research evidence in strategic policy development and planning.
Project Leadership, Strategic Thinking and Computer Skills:
• You can provide effective project planning and lead successful project completion.
• You can align current actions with strategic goals.
• You can access the Internet as a research tool and prepare a variety of material using common office software (e.g. MS Office).
Communication, Presentation, Relationship Management and Partnership Building Skills:
• You can promote cooperation and uptake of policy and standards by stakeholders and diffuse contentious issues.
• You can prepare and present complex research analyses, evidence based decision making results, policy recommendations and briefing papers.
• You can customize communication to the needs of the audience.
Healthcare Knowledge:
• You have a comprehensive understanding of current health issues and the healthcare system in Ontario.
