Before I joined the OPS, I … was a graduate student in Florida, USA completing a master’s degree in Business and Economics. I also worked as a program coordinator at a small business development centre assisting clients with starting their own small businesses.

I began my career in… the OPS, on contract, as a junior business analyst in the Ministry of the Environment

And now I am… a Senior Business Planning Consultant in the Business Planning and Financial Management Branch of the Ministry of Government Services.

A day in my shoes… is spent interacting with my portfolio clients to develop the ministry’s Results-Based and Infrastructure Plans, various Management Board submissions (MB20s) and Performance Measures. I provide strategic, financial and business advice to facilitate senior management decision-making. I also represent the ministry on various intra and inter-ministerial committees and task groups to review and assess practices, processes and government policy priorities.

I have chosen to work for the public service because… It is one of the largest employers in the province (over 60,000 employees). Working in the OPS can be very rewarding, here you can see the direct impact of what you do on citizen’s lives.

The thing that has surprised me the most about working for the OPS is… how limitless the career opportunities are.

Outside of work, my most memorable achievement is/was...becoming the Chair of Tomorrow’s OPS (TOPS). TOPS is a volunteer grassroots organization that provides networking, learning and leadership opportunities for young and new professionals in the OPS. I’m also actively involved in my community where I’m a mentor to disadvantaged young girls. I also volunteer at my church where I tutor new immigrants in English and assist them with resume and job searching skills.
