Before I joined the OPS, I … was a family therapist at a Children’s Mental Health Centre. I worked in this capacity for two years following my post graduate studies in Counselling and Assessment at the Institute of Child Studies at the University of Toronto.
I began my career in… providing counselling to families and their children who struggled in their relationships.
And now I am … providing the same service from both a frontline position as well as a supervisory and a training position to my own agency and other Children’s Mental Health agencies.
A day in my shoes… is filled with wonderful challenges that force me to go back to books, seminars and whatever it takes to provide a service in a thoughtful and compassionate manner.
I have chosen to work for the public service because… I believe I can continue to develop my skills and build competence in partnerships with those working in similar settings in the private sectors in this field of work.
The thing that has surprised me the most about working for the OPS is… that I can find ways to enhance my learning in a manner that is suited to the development of continuing to serve families in the most comprehensive and up to date manner.
Outside of work, my most memorable achievement is/was... learning how to best live with myself.
