Before I joined the OPS, I … completed my undergraduate degree in Film Studies at Queen’s University. I then pursued my law degree at the University of Windsor.

I began my career in… a large Bay Street law firm and was an associate there for almost two years in the Labour and Employment practice group.

And now I am … just beginning my career in the OPS as part of Counsel with the Labour Practice Group in the Ministry of Attorney General.

A day in my shoes… is different everyday. On some days I attend at the Grievance Settlement Board for mediations and arbitrations. At the office I prepare for upcoming cases by researching case law, reviewing relevant documents and meeting with clients. We also assist clients with day-to-day labour advice and opinions regarding issues that arise in the workplace, as well as provide assistance with human rights, Ontario Labour Relations Board, Workplace Safety and Insurance and Occupational Health and Safety issues.

I have chosen to work for the public service because… of the opportunity to gain advocacy experience and have client contact in an environment that is conducive to learning and is both challenging and rewarding. There is always someone to bounce an idea off or to discuss a case with. Lawyers here have great ideas and have different areas of expertise. Working here has also provided me with the opportunity to work with people who are employed in various capacities in a number of different ministries who also have a wide range of experiences and ideas.

The thing that has surprised me the most about working for the OPS is… that this organization has met all my expectations in terms of what working here would be like.

Outside of work, my most memorable achievement is/was... receiving the Gold Medal for highest cumulative average and the President’s Medal for contribution to the University of Windsor community at my graduation from law school.
