Purpose of Position :

As a member of a Provincial Park team, under general supervision, coordinates the registration of visitors, providing leadership and training to gate staff, provide customer service, assist in performing revenue receiving functions and perform general clerical duties..

Duties / Responsibilities :

Provides guidance and leadership to Gate attendants and students regarding sale of permits, registering park users, reporting revenues via computerized campground information system and high quality customer service.
Prepares and updates work schedules of Gate Attendants to ensure adequate coverage
Prepares time sheets for park staff and liaising with Ontario Shared Services regarding pay issues.
Performs revenue accounting functions by verifying daily sales summaries, preparing cash blotters, completing bank deposits and reconciling park permits.
Performs the duties of Gate attendant during peak registration hours.
Drafts and types memos and keeps operational files up to date.
Provides First Aid an Emergency Services
Assists other members of park team and in ministry program areas as required.

NOTE: Required to work shift work, weekends and stat holidays

Staffing and Licencing :

Valid Driver's Licence
Valid First Aid Certificate

Knowledge :

The position requires knowledge of park programs, services, operating regulations and applicable policies and procedures in order to issue permits and provide information to park visitors. Position requires knowledge of office practices and general administrative processes in order to track revenues, establish schedules and assist in purchasing and human resources duties. Position requires knowledge of personal computers including various software applications to track financials, electronic mail to produce letters, memoranda, reports, charts, table, graphics, spreadsheets and presentation material. Job requires knowledge of arithmetic to calculate, verify and prepare reports regarding park permits and revenue. Position requires knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and those Regulations made under the Act that apply to the workplace and the work being performed.

Skills :

The position requires interpersonal and group leadership skills to provide guidance and leadership to gate attendants and students and to effectively work within a team environment. Job requires oral and written communication skills to provide effective customer service and prepare correspondence. Good organizational, mathematical skills to handle cash and balance funds. Data entry skills to use personal computers including corporate software application to enter data and complete reports.

Freedom of Action :

Adhering to and accessing relevant Ministry Policies, procedures, guidelines, directives, established practices and file information to provide answers to inquiries and resolve client concerns.
Judgement in performing such duties as directing calls to appropriate staff, assisting vague inquiries by tactfully probing for detail, and composing basic/routine correspondence, forms, answering general inquiries, registering guests. Working under general supervision to ensure that the work is done correctly, accurately, and promptly. Reference materials are available (e.g., directories, various listings, computer operating instructions, Park Revenue Accounting User's Manual). Position refers issues/problems to the Assistant Park Superintendent.
