Purpose of Position :

To provide clerical/cashier, concierge, ushering and parking control services in the Box Office, Reception, and Call Centre department.

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Selling theatre and/or exhibit hall tickets for groups, tour companies, or individual bookings, reserve seats, including at the box office or call centre console.
• Processing reservations, ticket and parking payments (cash or credit card in Canadian or U.S. funds) using a computerized ticketing/cash system, requiring care to operate reservation/ticketing/cash system
• Accepting cash, making change, processing credit cards through card reader, operating bar code reader, retrieving tickets from ticket printer, sorting tickets for combination ticket sales.
• Verifying the amount of the cash float and balancing daily cash receipts
• Providing concierge services such as orienting visitors to the layout of the building, exhibits and special events at the Ontario Science Centre,
• Ushering visitors to theatre seats in OMNIMAX, Auditorium, and Theatres A, B, and C.
• Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Box Office, Reception & Call Centre, as well as the Supervisor, Visitor Admissions, who has the authority to do so.

Knowledge :

• Knowledge of customer service principles and best practices.
• Knowledge of keyboarding operation of the computerized ticket sales/cash system.
• Knowledge of cash handling, U.S. exchange rates and credit card processing in order to take reservations, sell/issue tickets and process payments.
• Knowledge of OSC corporate policy, vision, product and program prices and safety policies in emergency situations to provide sales, concierge, and ushering services and to respond to visitors' queries.

Skills :

• Excellent customer service skills demonstrating a commitment to visitor care.
• Excellent communication skills to explain products, discuss purchase options with customers.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to respond to visitor inquiries, to provide exceptional customer service, and to influence and expand the buying habits of Ontario Science Centre customers.
