Purpose of Position :

As a member of the Earl Rowe and Escarpment South team and under the general supervision of the Assistant Park Superintendent, carries out a variety of technical, administrative and supervisory duties to conduct the operation of the Compliance, Administrative and Resource Management programs in Mono Cliffs, Forks of the Credit, Bo ne Valle Provincial Parks and Hockle Valle Beattie Pine Nature Reserves.

Duties / Responsibilities :

Job requires:
Conducting the operation of the Compliance programs in the Escarpment South parks by implementing the enforcement and operation plans as prescribed by the park management plan which includes:
Performing compliance duties as a Provincial Park Warden by:
• Investigating complaints, issuing warnings, issuing Provincial Offence Notices, seizing evidence and preparing court documents
• Coordinate preparation and submission of all compliance related reports
Providing information and assistance to park visitors, interest groups and other government and private agencies
• Providing technical guidance and training to other compliance staff and the public
Conducting the operation and development of the interior and trail system by:
Planning and conducting trail monitoring and maintenance patrols
Coordinating custodial monitoring in non-operational parks and other properties Developing and implementing fee collection in conjunction with the Senior Park Clerk Acting as a revenue collection agent
• Ensuring accurate and timely collection and reporting of revenue Providing technical guidance to assigned employees and public.
Conducting fleet management and vehicle training by:
• Coordinating the collection and maintenance of automotive expenses information data base
• Coordinating and procuring vehicle repairs and regular maintenance
• Conducting or procuring regulatory and site specific training for all park vehicles including all terrain vehicles, and any specialty (farm or industrial ground maintenance) vehicles.
• Assisting with the planning, administration and delivery of the park program by:
Providing group leadership to unclassified staff and students
Providing or procure regular and specialty training to unclassified staff and students
Assisting with hiring procedure for unclassified staff, making recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent for hiring, monitoring the quality and quantity of work, monitoring performance for input to performance management process
Providing general park maintenance functions by carrying out routine maintenance duties
Ensuring staff compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Requirements
Ensuring visitor satisfaction by maintaining assigned park facilities to a high standard Ensuring public safety is maintained
Procuring general and specialty supplies and equipment
Ensuring all activities are conducted in a safe manner meeting quality and quantity standards and that all activities are accomplished within assigned time and budget allocation limits
Performing other related duties as assigned
Acting as duty officer in the absence of the Park Superintendent and Assistant Park Superintendent Other Duties as assigned

NOTE: The incumbent shall, while in the workplace conduct themselves in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, and any workplace policies, procedures and practices as directed by their immediate supervisor, report any hazards of which they are aware to their immediate supervisor, re ort all work related injuries and illnesses to their immediate supervisor.

Staffing and Licensing :

• Ability to be designated as a Park Warden and meet the ministry certification criteria and standards in the Use of Force
• Valid Standard First Aid Certificate
• Valid Class G Driver's Licence

Knowledge :

• Job requires knowledge of natural and cultural resources, policies and techniques, flora and fauna identification, oral, written communication skills.
Job requires knowledge of relevant resource management principles, techniques, legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure park program and visitor compliance.
• Job requires knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures to conduct compliance duties and to enforce provincial statutes.
Job requires knowledge of park administration, business practices, purchasing, accounting policies, procedures and guidelines to maintain compliance with corporate and field direction.
• Job requires knowledge of work plan procedures to project and track expenditures to ensure approved allocations are not exceeded; and to provide input into capital development and regular program planning.
Job requires knowledge of general facility and equipment use and maintenance practices to carry out routine maintenance and development activities.
• Job requires knowledge of the operation and maintenance of hand and powered equipment, and commercial and agricultural grounds maintenance equipment.
Job requires knowledge of customer service standards/practices, telephone operation and etiquette to serve park clients and respond to general information requests from internal/external clients.
• Job requires knowledge of worker responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

Skills :

• Job requires group leadership skills to determine priorities and assign work to students and other unclassified staff, including, monitoring the quality and quantity of work and reporting on progress Job requires analytical skill to set priorities with or without supervisory input, apply resource management principles and techniques to ensure environmental and facility/resource protection, respond to emergency situations considering urgency, implications and possible effects and to ensure human health and safety.
• Job requires organizational skills to organize task loading to ensure assignments are completed within established time frames, and allocations.
• Job requires mathematical skills to accurately track expenditures, inventories, and statistics.
• Job requires group leadership, interpersonal and communication skills to provide direction, assign work, provide or procure training, monitor performance and ensure continuity in services.
• Job requires written and verbal communication skills to prepare correspondence, address comments and complaints, clarify and explain issues to park visitors, interest groups, stakeholders and other government and to conduct compliance duties.
• Job requires skill, physical ability and training to meet physical demands analysis to qualify as a Park Warden.
• Job requires skill and ability to maintain and operate tools and equipment and vehicles safely and efficiently and the physical ability to work in inclement weather conditions, in remote areas.

• Job requires working in compliance with legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, directives and accepted practice to perform administrative, procurement, and compliance.
• Job requires the demonstration of tact and good judgment to deal appropriately with contentious or potentially contentious issues that may be internal and/or external in nature.

• Job requires performing tasks under general supervision of the Assistant Park Superintendent and works independently to establish work priorities and resolve issues within established government procedures, policies and directives.
• Job requires consultation with supervisor on matters of an unusual/potentially contentious nature or which may resent a contravention of policies, procedures or normal business practices.
