Purpose of Position :

Working with entrepreneurial sprit within a team environment to prepare inventories, displays and sell park merchandise and permits to visitors at Voyageur Provincial Park

Duties / Responsibilities :

Working within Voyageur Provincial Park,

1. (75%) Assist in the operation of the Ontario Parks store At Voyageur Provincial Park By:

- receiving inventory of products and supplies and maintaining record of same;

- checking quantities for condition and noting damages, shortages, etc;

- drafting orders for restocking store

- displaying merchandise in an attractive manner to achieve maximum customer appeal;

- receiving revenue personally from the sale of merchandise;

- completing shift end revenue and reconciliation reports in accordance with MNR and park accounting practices and policies;

- preparing take-out prepared foods and condiments ensuring strict adherence to all legislation pertaining to proper and safe preparation and handling of food;

-preparing annual reports and recommendations for supervisor with respect to supplies, quality of service and product pricing structure, operational plans and routines and customer satisfaction;

- ensuring that the store work environment is constantly maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary condition and that the store facility and grounds are maintained in a well kept and presentable condition;

- providing general information to store visitors with respect to other programs and services within the park and surrounding area

-acting in a professional, courteous manner when dealing with customers, suppliers, and staff;

-providing minimal first aid and emergency services if required;

2. (15%) Assist with the registration of park visitors and with the administration of the park by:

-accepting and processing reservations;

-issuing permits, processing cash and credit card transactions;

-answering public enquires by phone and by mail;

-preparing various park reports and summaries;

3 (10%) Performs a variety of other park maintenance and operational duties as assigned.

- provides leadership to students;


Other additional duties as assigned.

The incumbent shall, while in the workplace and in performing their assigned duties, conduct themselves in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, as well as any workplace practices as directed by the employer. The incumbent shall ensure that they take precautions to protect the health and safety of themselves and others by complying with such Acts, codes, policies, procedures and/or accepted workplace practices as may be appropriate. The incumbent shall report any hazards of which they are aware to their immediate supervisor or designated employer representative.

Staffing and Licencing :

Valid Class G drivers licence required

Knowledge :

General knowledge of retail sales procedures and practices; knowledge of relevant acts, policies and procedures related to the preparation, service and safe handling of food; knowledge of MNR accounting processes

Skills :

Skill in cash handling and recordkeeping; ability to work well with others; good oral and written communication skills; ability to organize work, set priorities and completes work in a timely manner.
