Purpose of Position :
To assist in providing advice and information relative to community based land use planning, resource management planning and the integration of resource management activities.
Duties / Responsibilities :
Assists and participates with outreach, consultation and facilitation initiatives by:
• assisting with the preparation of communications materials;
• organizing and attending meetings, workshops, open houses;
• documenting, compiling and organizing public input;
• drafting responses to public input.
Assists and participates with the preparation, and/or review of community based land use plans, land use and/or resource management plans and the integration of resource management activities by:
• applying knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, theory, principles and practice, to provide information and advice on questions of content;
• preparing background reports, discussion papers, etc. describing the history, circumstances or nature of an issue to be dealt with in a land use or resource management plan;
• assisting in the collection, consolidation and analysis of statistical data;
• assisting in the development of planning options, including the analysis of options for effectiveness and implications;
• assisting in the development of community based land use plans.
Managers have the right to assign additional duties.
Note:
The incumbent shall, while in the workplace, conduct themselves in compliance with the OH&S Act and any workplace practices as directed by their immediate supervisor and in accordance with the Internal Responsibility System as outlined in the OH&S Act.
Knowledge :
• Understanding of legislation and policy governing land use planning and resource management planning.
• Good understanding of the theory, principles, and practices in a discipline of natural resource management and the theory, principles and practices of ecosystem management.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications in order to analyse data and prepare reports.
• Basic knowledge of analytical techniques.
• Basic knowledge of field survey and data collection techniques.
• Knowledge of worker responsibility as outlined in the OH&S Act.

• Work is reviewed by others for completeness and accuracy.
• Can be expected to provide background reports, discussion papers on project status.
