Purpose of Position :

Under the general supervision of the Park Superintendent organizes and implements a Seasonal Natural Heritage Education Program at Voyageur Provincial Park according to the provisions of the NHE Operating Plan and to assist in the gathering of information with respect to the park's natural and/or historic resources.

Duties / Responsibilities :

1. Organizes and implements a seasonal activity NHE Program by: (80%)
-participating in the preparation of NHE Operating Plan
-co-ordinating the efforts of others in a group task by scheduling work assignments according to the direction provided in the park NHE
Operating schedule.
-developing and preparing programs for delivery by others;
-providing leadership to others in the delivery of their assignments;
-monitoring the delivery of programs presented by others and providing advice on changes to program content and delivery
-assisting in the development of publications, exhibits, and audio-visual programs
-researching, preparing, and delivering interpretative programs.
-ensuring staff take precautions to protect the health & safety of themselves and others by complying witch such acts, codes, policies,
procedures, or accepted workplace practices as may be appropriate
-ensuring workers are advised of the known hazards and required precautions, acting in accordance with the Internal Responsibility System as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
2. Assists in the implementation of resource management programs by: (15%)
-assisting in the maintenance of collections
-carrying out or overseeing inventories of natural and/or cultural features as requested. knowledge required to perform job at full working level
- completing year-end reports and recommending improvements and/or changes.

Staffing and Licencing :

-oral skill in French at the advanced level;
-valid First Aid Certificate
-Valid Driver's Licence

Knowledge :

Technical skills and knowledge of natural history, cultural history or recreational skills development.
technical skills and knowledge of interpretation
-working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and those regulations made under the act that apply to the workplace

Skills :

-public relations skills in order to effectively deal with large groups of visitors of various ages and backgrounds; strong customer service skills
-strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
-ability to operate audio-visual equipment and public address systems
-ability to operate photography equipment
-general knowledge of park directions and guidelines
ability to provide leadership
-strong oral and written skills in English;
-ability to use computer software, Word Processing and Graphic Proms. (Word, PowerPoint, scanners).
