What can I expect to do in this role?

•lead, coordinate and plan sensitive and contentious environmental projects
•participate in the preparation and design of the District's annual operational plan
•work with District management and staff to design, prepare and implement the District's annual workplan, performance measures and metrics.
•recommend and help implement viable options to resolve business, communication, and compliance issues
•prepare correspondence and briefing materials for senior management
•facilitate, negotiate and mediate with internal and external stakeholders and teams
•interpret and evaluate ministry legislation, guidelines, policies, abatement procedures and programs.
•promote and maintain Aboriginal and stakeholder relations and establish partnerships to effectively deliver programs

Issues management, Strategic Thinking and Problem Solving Skills

•You can develop and implement sound recommendations to resolve an issue.
•You can assess risk and think strategically to understand and address all aspects of an issue

Project Management and Team Leadership Skills

•You have proven experience in project management to undertake projects based on objectives, scope, timelines, stakeholder involvement, project teams and resources required
•You can lead teams from various areas towards effective environmental risk management resolutions

Communication, Interpersonal, and Consultation Skills

•You have demonstrated experience in developing a variety of well-written products such as presentations, reports, briefing notes and correspondence
•You have strong presentation skills to communicate information in a clear and logical manner
•You have superior interpersonal skills to resolve conflict and consult with stakeholders and the public to address a wide range of concerns

Technical Skills and Knowledge

•You have experience in developing business and operational plans/goals and understand government processes (i.e. communication, fiscal and procurement practices)
•You can interpret and apply environmental legislation (e.g. EPA, OWRA, EAA), guidelines, policies and ministry legal instruments (e.g. permits, licenses, orders)
•You have knowledge and experience in applying of Ontario's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
•You have experience in developing and maintaining operational work plans and associated performance measures and metrics
•You have experience using computer software (e.g. spreadsheets, word processing, presentation) in a Windows environment
•You have experience using spreadsheets to compile and analyse data and perform statistical functions
•You have experience using database tools.
