Are you a highly organized person with a strong background in Superior and Ontario Court procedures? If so, then consider this opportunity to provide for the co-ordination, safety, control, continuity and release of exhibits submitted at court proceedings.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will maintain the out of court storage of exhibits and coordinate exhibit distribution to and from courts.

Duties include:

•accepting, recording, retrieving, monitoring and storing all exhibits, checking for accuracy, logging, and entering details into the system;
•ensuring control and security of exhibits including the safe keeping of firearms and valuables entered as exhibits;
•counting all monies and signing receipts;
•maintaining accurate files for exhibits pending court appearance for ongoing cases;
•preparing exhibits for courts on a daily basis;
•releasing exhibits to proper parties;
•liaising with judiciary, police, Crown and/or complainants and various stakeholders.

How do I qualify?

Knowledge

•knowledge of both Superior and Ontario Court of Justice court procedures, protocol and legislation with familiarity with legal terminology;
•knowledge of office procedures related to exhibit storage, retention, and returns.

Organization & Communication Skills

•excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills to ensure that exhibits are effectively managed, strict timelines are met, and exhibits are readied for court without delay;
•ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high volume environment including self motivation to take initiative in the work place;
•ability to work independently and as a team player;
•excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to write accurately and legibly;
•tact and diplomacy to deal effectively with the judiciary, the legal profession, administrative staff and stakeholders.

Computer Skills

•ability to use a personal computer and applications (e.g. FRANK, ICON, Outlook, Word, Excel, network systems) to track data and produce workload reports in a timely and accurate manner.
