Are you looking for the opportunity to use your biological/ecological science knowledge and experience? If so, consider this exciting opportunity to work with the Species at Risk Recovery Unit.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:

• assist with species at risk (SAR) recovery program and policy implementation
• provide support on projects related to species protection, recovery planning, progress reporting and the development of policies, procedures and guidelines to support habitat descriptions and habitat regulations for the Species Conservation Policy Branch of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF)
• provide support to staff across the ministry on SAR protection program activities

How do I qualify?

Technical knowledge and skills:

• You have applied knowledge of current biological/ecological science theory/principles.
• You have scientific knowledge of Ontario's species at risk and their habitats.
• You have an understanding of the government's species at risk objectives and related legislation, policy, and programs.
• You are familiar with the stakeholder sectors to support consultations and provide information and advice.
• You have proven ability to conduct species at risk scientific research/analysis for the development of habitat descriptions, regulations, recovery strategies and management plans.

Communication and consultation skills:

• You have the proven ability to effectively obtain and share technical information with a broad range of stakeholders and ministry program areas, and to prepare or contribute to scientific summaries, reports, briefing notes and other correspondence.

Project management, organizational skills and initiative:

• You have the proven ability to effectively conduct assigned projects to meet tight deadlines and targets.
• You have demonstrated initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
