Join a diverse and skilled team in the Treasury Board Secretariat, Central Agencies I&IT Cluster, to fill the role of Web Development Specialist and move the yardstick in delivering effective, accessible websites.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will:
• Build and maintain websites, web applications and web services to better support Ontario Public Service employees and deliver services to the public.
• Help ensure Government of Ontario websites and web applications are usable and accessible to persons with disabilities.
• Work with multi-disciplinary, agile teams to solve challenging problems.
• Use your knowledge and experience to advise senior decision-makers setting the government's web directions.
• Working with a high-impact team, you will be constantly learning new technologies and techniques through research, experimentation and from your exceptional colleagues.

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of website hosting and maintenance methods.
• You have knowledge of emerging web technologies and tools, open source web technologies, and web site usability and accessibility requirements.
• You have knowledge of web design, development and management methods, including experience with agile software development methodologies.
• You have knowledge of and experience with “LAMP environments, open source web technologies (especially WordPress, Lucene/Solr), distributed code management and Cloud deployment methodologies.

Systems Analysis and Problem-Solving Skills:

• You can identify and assess web technologies, and accurately estimate resource requirements to deliver valued solutions that meet user needs.
• You can recommend and implement practical alternatives and solutions.
• You can prepare business cases.

Communication, Consultation and Interpersonal Skills:

• You can provide technical expertise, advice and recommendations.
• You can prepare and present reports, plans and briefings.
• You can establish credibility and foster effective work relationships with committees, colleagues and managers.
