What can I expect to do in this role?

ACT WITH INTEGRITY
• As a Senior Purchasing Specialist you will plan, manage and conduct the procurement activities for a diverse range of commodities, with emphasis on contract management.
• You will exercise professionalism, tact and diplomacy in a fast-paced, politically sensitive environment when dealing with MPPs, staff of the Legislative Assembly, and vendors

SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY
• You will apply your knowledge of procurement theories, principles and practices
• You will aid internal client's in developing specifications, prepare tender documents, evaluate bid submissions, and award tenders, quotations and proposals for a variety of contracts
• You will use your negotiation skills to ensure value added and timely solutions to satisfy the initiatives, deadlines and priorities of internal clients
• You will maintain purchasing records, electronic filing systems/databases and contact lists
• You will provide professional advice to your clients by effectively communicating procurement strategy
• You will foster relationships with vendors and monitor emerging market trends

How do I qualify?

DEMONSTRATE YOUR EXCELLENCE
• Complementing your public procurement experience as a Purchasing specialist, you possess or are working towards obtaining your CSCMP, CPPB designation
• You are familiar with contract law as it relates to procurement
• You have some working knowledge of CCDC standard contracts and in utilizing the national master specification standard
• You have successfully managed multiple projects, from planning through to tracking and reporting
• Demonstrated ability for identifying and resolving contractual problems and are driven by being organized, responsive and flexible
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
